Clinton Anderson Approach & Retreat

I thought the following was an interesting demo by Clinton Anderson of horse lingo and approach-and-retreat training:

Although I have already intimately explained and deciphered, from my perspective, the 'Barney incident' with Linda Parelli, I thought the above video was a good additional sort of explanation to add! I can tell ya, I have much more respect for Clinton Anderson than for Chris Irwin!! Hahaha. I will have to look further into CA's methods...

The problem I see w/Clinton, is that he likes his horses robotic. He tends to flood a horse and his own horses are very mechanical.
However, I think he does have something to offer much of the time.

I like Jonathan Field MUCH better.

Thanks for the input! I've been meaning to check him out for years now, but sort of had this feeling he might be that way - so many are. Stacy Westfall is another I feel is possibly that way? I LOVELOVELOVE Jonathan. Took a couple clinics through him and definitely plan on getting out to his ranch in the near future...

Stacy is far better w/a horse then Clinton is. She does not flood the horse and is much more appropriate to the horse's temperament. However, she does do some things that I do not care for, such as constantly flapping her legs on the horse to keep him moving (it seems to be a reining thing).
If you ever can get your hands on the DVD sets from the 2006 & 2007 Road to the Horse, do so. They are very interesting to watch.
Jonathan sure has a good way with a horse.
